Easy DIY face masks for dry skin

Easy DIY face masks for dry skin

Skin is that one thing we keep our whole lives on. So what we put on our faces is more important than bags, clothes or shoes. I won't talk about face creams or wrinkles now, but about a completely different and equally important topic: facials and face masks.

Yes, going to a nice beauty salon or spa and having one of these beautiful girls put things on our faces and massage is very relaxing and good for our skin..but it costs..well..a lot. So, here I am, giving you my tricks when it comes to spa skin care at home. First of all, what you need to know is that masks aren't just treatments you use occasionally, and you expect miracles after 20 minutes. Instead, they have to take a very specific place in your routine in order to see results. I'm not talking about daily use - I know time is a precious thing - but at least once every 3 or 4 days.

Now, back to that dry skin. You know what I'm talking about.. tiny patches of skin that look so obvious when applying makeup, irritation, and sensitive skin that turns all red and hurts when you go outside. Of course it doesn't have to be that way (even if it's winter and -10 degrees outside).

DIY dry avocado mask

nourishing mask

My all-time favorite ingredient for these problems is..avocado. You only need half a fruit and a fork. You should be able to break it down easily and simply apply it to your face in a thick layer. Leave it on for 20 minutes (or more if you can handle having something on your skin for that long) and after you take it off, you'll feel the difference in how your skin is nourished. Of course, you can add drops of other beneficial ingredients like honey, olive oil, banana, etc., just make sure there isn't anything annoying in what you put there. To get an idea of what I'm talking about, avoid lavender oil, rosemary oil (actually any essential oil), and strawberry.

Soothing mask

This one is easy and you probably already know something about it from your mom: When it comes to soothing irritated skin, you use raw honey. You can either apply it on its own or mix it with oils or milk. Just be careful with the mixture as it tends to slide off easily. Of course, you can only apply it when taking a long relaxing bath (yeah, yeah, it's not very good for the skin, but we're allowed at least one guilty pleasure)

Moisturizing barrier

This isn't exactly a mask, but a trick I suggest doing if you have any type of skin problem: massage. Do not stress because you do not know which massage technique. The point here is to gently pat your face, tap a point, or rub it carefully. Of course, you will not do this on bare skin, but in fact use oil. For dry skin, I recommend almond or jojoba oil, but if you don't have those, you can easily use olive oil or coconut oil (or whatever you have in your kitchen). Just be sure to wash your face afterwards.

These are some of the tips I use to combat my darkening skin and they really work if used often enough. I'll be back soon with info on more skin types, so come by again!
